Collaboration Focus

Collaboration is approached as a pathway for rigorous research, comparative learning, institutional capacity development and the translation of scholarship into policy and professional practice.

Military Performance Management Research

Conceptual, empirical and comparative studies examining performance across military personnel, units, institutions, capability and strategic defence outcomes.

Management, HRM & Organisational Performance

Collaborative research in human resource management, performance management, leadership, organisational behaviour, institutional effectiveness and strategic management.

Defence & Security Institutional Research

Interdisciplinary engagement connecting management scholarship with defence management, military effectiveness, readiness, leadership, professional military education and institutional performance.

Policy, Executive Education & Capacity Development

Potential Collaboration Pathways

The research programme is open to carefully structured partnerships where objectives, responsibilities, ethics, access arrangements and expected outputs are jointly defined.

Universities & Research Institutes

Joint research, comparative studies, co-authored publications, conferences, postgraduate research engagement and development of interdisciplinary research networks.

Military, Defence & Security Institutions

Research and knowledge partnerships focused on organisational effectiveness, performance systems, leadership, capability, readiness, professional development and institutional learning.

Government & Public Institutions

Evidence-based research, policy dialogue, performance improvement, leadership development and institutional capacity initiatives.

International & Development Organisations

Research, capacity development and policy-oriented initiatives relating to institutional effectiveness, security-sector governance, organisational performance and strategic outcomes.

Comparative International Research

Cross-country and cross-institutional studies that test and refine Military Performance Management concepts across different defence, organisational and cultural settings.

Research Grants & Knowledge Projects

Joint proposal development for competitive research funding, collaborative data collection, framework development, dissemination and sustainable research programmes.

International Research Trajectory

International engagement provides an important foundation for the next phase of comparative Military Performance Management research.

From International Academic Engagement to Comparative MPM Research

International academic engagement has included research and conference participation in Malaysia, the United Kingdom, Brunei and Ghana. In 2021, a formal post-doctoral research fellowship offer from Universiti Pertahanan Nasional Malaysia (UPNM) proposed research on Understanding Military Performance Management in Context: Applicability in the Nigerian Army. Although the fellowship was not taken up at the time, the research theme continued to develop through publications, conference presentations, conceptual work and institutional development.

Current collaborative ambitions extend this trajectory toward comparative and multi-institutional research capable of testing, refining and applying Military Performance Management across different organisational and national contexts.

This section records academic engagement and research trajectory. It does not represent exploratory discussions or prospective institutions as concluded partnerships.

Principles for Collaboration

Effective collaboration should create academic and institutional value while maintaining clear governance and scholarly standards.

Mutual Academic Value

Partnerships should contribute substantive expertise, comparative insight, methodological strength or institutional relevance to the research.

Integrity & Institutional Approval

Research should respect academic independence, ethical requirements, institutional authority, confidentiality and applicable approval processes.

Clear & Sustainable Outputs

Collaborative work should define responsibilities and pursue credible outputs such as research publications, policy briefs, frameworks, professional learning and longer-term research networks.

Collaborate

I welcome serious academic and institutional enquiries relating to Management, Performance Management, Military Performance Management, defence institutional effectiveness, comparative research, policy-oriented scholarship and capacity development.

Prospective collaborators are encouraged to outline the proposed area of engagement, institutional context and potential research or knowledge-development objective.
